Though AVS does not verify the legitimacy of a transaction, Card Not Present merchants can use AVS to accept or decline transactions based on the validity of the billing address information provided by the customer.

Note: Enabling AVS in your Payment Gateway account may cause legitimate credit card transactions to be declined, if the address used for the transaction is different than the address associated with the cardholder's bank account.
